This figure was parsed from Commerce's FY2027 Congressional Justification, not from a standard budget exhibit. It is approximate and it is not summable with other lines. It is published so you can check it: the citation below names the exact page it was read off. Where a dollar figure matters, verify it there before using it.

What this funds

NTIA administers the Connecting Minority Communities Pilot Grants program, as required by the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021. The NTIA has awarded approximately $263 million in grants under the Connecting Minority Communities Pilot Program. The Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 rescinded all remaining funds planned for NTIA grants oversight and technical assistance, and NTIA is using funds transferred from Broadband Equity Access and Deployment to ensure the successful completion of the grants and to continue to conduct grants oversight and technical assistance to protect federal grant funds from waste, fraud and abuse. In FY 2027, grant recipients of the program will complete the closeout process. Through FY 2026, NTIA conducted oversight of these pilot grants and began the close out process for the remaining active grants. In FY 2027, NTIA will work with the Grants Office to complete the grant close out process.
