The FY2027 President's Budget requests $30.0M for Airframes and Sensors End Items, within Homeland Security's Procurement, Construction, and Improvements account. That is down 8.3% on the FY2026 figure of $32.7M, which is a continuing-resolution annualized figure, not an enacted appropriation.
FY2025–FY2027
| Fiscal year | Basis | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| FY2025 | enacted | $32.7M |
| FY2026 | CR annualized | $32.7M |
| FY2027 | request | $30.0M |
The prior-year column is a CR annualized figure — the rate a continuing resolution funds at, not an enacted appropriation. The two are different numbers and are not interchangeable. Bases are separate columns and are never summed into one figure.

What this funds
Airframes and Sensors End Items - Investment Integrated Operations Assets and Infrastructure End Items include funding for the development, procurement, and deployment of multiple technologies and assets for AMO. This includes the following investments: ' Persistent Wide Area Air Surveillance (PWAAS): The FY 2027 Budget funds $30.0M for five PWAAS sensor sites to expand C-UAS and air domain awareness capabilities. Currently, CBP has three operational sites and is procuring five more through the Working Families Tax Cut Act (Pub. Law 119-21), working toward a goal of establishing 58 sites along the Southern Border. This investment strengthens DHS's ability to detect, track, identify, and classify suspicious small dark targets and general aviation threats, denying cartels undetected and unrestricted access to U.S. border airspace for illicit smuggling and migration activities.
