## What this funds

The FY 2027 Budget removes all funding from the 2024 Presidential Campaign. The 2024 Presidential Campaign concluded in January 2025, therefore the funds are no longer necessary. U.S. Secret Service Operations and Support The FY 2027 Budget includes initial funding to support the U.S. Secret Service's statutory mandate under Title 18 U.S.C. 3056 to provide protection for major presidential and vice-presidential candidates and their spouses during the 2028 Presidential Campaign. This funding provides sufficient lead time to ensure operational and equipment readiness by enabling the purchase, refresh, and pre-positioning of addressing supply-chain challenges. Additionally, the budget supports specialized protective training for U.S. Secret Service personnel and DHS partner agencies, as well as preparation for the unique demands of an unpredictable candidate pool, extended campaign timelines, and the logistical Program Change 3 -- 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics: The FY 2027 Budget includes initial funding for the 2028 Sumer Olympics and Paralympics, which have been designated as a NSSE. The funding will provide the agency with multi-year funding to begin entering into lodging agreements for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games. Funding is critical for supporting travel and overtime costs, multi-agency command centers, long-term temporary duty (TDY) assignments for U.S. Secret Service Personnel, and an increased demand for protective technology assets. This funding will support U.S. Secret Service's ability to execute a statutorily mandated responsibility to establish and maintain a secure environment for the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, and protection of U.S. This funding will enable the U.S. Secret Service to deploy personnel, requiring additional resources for travel and overtime. These measures are critical to ensuring the successful execution of protective operations during this high-profile international event. U.S. Secret Service Operations and Support The FY 2027 Budget includes funding to build out the U.S. Secret Service Currency Inspection Program's continuous and responsible piloting and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and deploys AI-enabled counterfeit currency detection at U.S. Secret Service. The Agency will utilize staffing to build an investigative computing architecture to facilitate the introduction of intelligent automation, advanced analytics, and This investigative planned research and development effort includes the detection of counterfeit currency to protect the global financial system and the identification of large-scale financial fraud. The FY 2027 Budget includes funding to support the Airspace Division, which provides oversight, strategic direction, and integration of Counter- Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) and Enabling Unmanned Aircraft Systems (eUAS) activities. Funding for this division ensures robust governance, accountability, and alignment with U.S. Secret Service priorities. It also supports the development and implementation of policies, training, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. The rapid proliferation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) presents evolving security challenges and emerging threats. To effectively address these challenges and leverage UAS capabilities, it is essential to fund centralized operations, equipment, and contractor support personnel across the C- UAS, eUAS, Airspace Division. The establishment of the Airspace Division centralizes aerial protection technology, streamlines operational processes, and creates a more secure and controlled airspace environment to support the agency's critical protection mission. The FY 2027 Budget includes funding for Ballistic Armor Walls. This funding will provide the next generation of ballistic armor walls utilized as part of a layered defense strategy, complementing other physical and procedural security measures. These walls help create safe zones and enhance protectee safety in and around multiple deployable scenarios, to include event venues, screening areas, and temporary fortified exclusion areas. They may be installed as part of building infrastructure or used as modular, portable barrier system for temporary events. These armor walls are constructed with executive-level finishes and are deployable on stages, in suites, event site hallways and other locations where protective details determine increased ballistic protection is needed.
