At the national level, the program establishes the regulatory framework for communities that participate in the NFIP by developing policy, guidance, standards, and technical publications. Flood Mapping, which includes the Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) program, funds activities that provide tools such as flood maps and preliminary flood hazard data for communities to use to know which areas have the highest risk of flooding. The Risk MAP program provides user-friendly products to analyze flood risk and support planning and development practices.
