What this funds
This investment continues the HC-144 Service Life Extension Program (SLEP), a critical capital project required to prevent the fleet of 18 HC-144 aircraft from reaching the end of their service life. The HC-144 is a Medium Range Surveillance (MRS) and transport aircraft providing fixed-wing air capability, complementing the long-range, heavy-lift four-engine HC-130J aircraft. The FY 2027 Budget funds SLEP for the next three HC-144 aircraft, replacing key life-limited components to extend each airframe's service life by an estimated 22,000 flight hours and 12,000 landing cycles. This cost-effective recapitalization ensures the HC-144 fleet remains operationally available into the 2040s.
