What this funds

This PPA supports the procurement of chemical, biological, and radiological detection equipment that can be carried, worn, or easily moved to support operational end-users and Special Mission Units. This PPA is comprised of the following investment: Portable Detection Equipment: The U.S. Secret Service will procure Portable Detection Equipment in support of its critical protective mission. This Equipment encompasses advanced, mobile technologies designed to detect and identify threats--including explosives, chemical agents, radiological materials, and other hazardous substances--at protection sites nationwide. It. This capability is essential to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of protectees, while supporting operational flexibility, allowing agents to conduct thorough screening and threat assessments in real-time. In previous years similar type equipment was provided by DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction to DHS components.
