N/A - Other Systems and Assets End Items Other Systems and Assets - PPA II Radiation Portal Monitor Replacement Program CBP uses the RMP RP at U.S. land and sea POEs to scan cargo and vehicles, preventing the smuggling of radiological and nuclear threats while supporting legitimate trade and travel. The program enhances detection and identification capabilities at high-volume ports by deploying advanced monitors that reduce nuisance alarms, enable remote operation and monitoring, and lessen the operational burden on CBP. By expanding the deployment of these enhanced systems, CBP ensures effective detection without disrupting the flow of commerce. The FY 2027 Budget includes $13.9M to complete the deployment, installation, and commissioning of RPM RP systems at U.S. land and sea POEs. These monitors scan cargo and vehicles to prevent the smuggling of radiological and nuclear threats while supporting legitimate trade and travel. CBP will deploy 216 enhanced systems at 35 POEs, with an additional system reserved for testing, and complete installation of 50 systems at 17 POEs. By deploying advanced monitors that reduce nuisance alarms, enable remote operation and monitoring, and lessen operational burdens, CBP will strengthen detection capabilities and protect the United States without disrupting the flow of commerce.
