Independent audit reports of the NED for FY 2021, 2022, and 2023 revealed significant deficiencies in reporting adherence under the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA). NED has no Senate-confirmed leadership and has repeatedly funded programs that undermine the foreign policy of the elected President of the United States and his Senate-confirmed Secretary of State, endangering trade deals and threatening peaceful relations with partner governments.
