What the FY2027 request buys
Verbatim from the R-2A exhibit for project 675197 of PE 0305022F. This is the budget justification's own description of work that has not happened yet — the one thing no other level of the budget carries.
IMAD will continue advancing automation and AI/ML to optimize data workflows and multi-source fusion, Including Common Intelligence Network (CIN) and ontology-based solutions for ISR at scale. These investments enhance cloud-enabled ISR, adaptive infrastructure, and resilient systems, delivering actionable intelligence faster with improved interoperability. IMAD's innovations in data conditioning and fusion support border protection and missile defense by compressing decision timelines and providing real-time intelligence that adapts to dynamic operational environments. This approach ensures warfighters maintain decision advantage in contested, complex settings.
The FY2026 President's Budget submittal did not reflect the FY2027 through FY2030 funding. Therefore, an explanation of the changes between the two budget positions for FY2027 cannot be made in a relevant manner.
FY2026: the year under way
Prior-year accomplishments and current-year plans from the same exhibit. Context for the FY2027 plan, not a series — an activity partitions its project exactly in the request year, but can under-cover it in earlier years.
Continue to develop ISR Algorithmic Warfare automation of tools and machine learning algorithms. Continue to investigate AL methods.
Three years, and no five-year plan
An R-2A activity publishes the prior year, the current year and the budget year. The FYDP outyears exist at project and program-element level and are deliberately absent here rather than inferred. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure.
| Fiscal Year | Estimate Type | Amount ($M) |
|---|---|---|
| FY2025 | Actual | 15.9 |
| FY2026 | Enacted | 18.6 |
| FY2027 | Request | 12.5 |
This activity is 100% of project 675197's FY2027 request and 77% of PE 0305022F's. In the request year the activities under a project sum to it exactly; in the current year they under-cover it in about 9% of cases, so an activity's delta can legitimately exceed its parent's and the two must not be compared row to row.
