◆ Restart — nothing in FY2026
HitchAI read

Project 674820 — Sensor Development requests $20.0M in FY2027, 58% of the $34.3M requested for program element 0305206F — a restart: funded in FY2025, zeroed in FY2026, funded again now. 4 R-2A activities decompose the request, 3 new this cycle. Lockheed Martin is the largest named R-3 performer at $5.6M, 28% of the project's FY2027 R-3 total.

Restart

This project was funded in FY2025 ($20.3M), zeroed in FY2026, and requests $20.0M again in FY2027. A restart has an incumbent and a new start does not; with a zero current year there is no percentage to quote, which is why it appears in no growth ranking.

What project 674820 buys

The Sensors Development project used non-recurring engineering activities to support the fabrication, integration, and testing of the Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar system (ASARS) 2C processing system to vastly improve the Air Force's long range, high altitude ISR radar imagery, detection, and tracking capabilities. The Sensors Development project conducted design, development, testing, and fielding efforts. The efforts increased the range, collection capability, interoperability, and processing of the Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar Systems. The Sensors Development efforts advanced the capability of ASARS for U-2 and classified platform employment. ASARS-2B [front-end] & ASARS-2C [back-end] efforts provided critical advancements and risk reduction in SAR/Moving Target Indication capability to be implemented in the future multi-INT, platform agile capability that Next Generation Sensors will provide. The ASARS effort was a fifth generation, deep-look, high-altitude, ISR radar that was to be the foundation for the radar component of the Next Generation Sensors [NGS] family of systems as outlined in the AFROC approved ASARS-2C draft Capabilities Development Document [CDD]. ASARS-2B [front-end] was the antenna and receiver exciter replacement. The ASARS-2C [back end] data processing efforts extended the ASARS-2B [front-end] radar capability using open architecture data processing and multiplatform integration. Open architecture improves performance and lowers cost by facilitating and enabling qualified third-party software vendors to incorporate future multi-ISR capability to advance interoperability across joint operations. ASARS was meant to increase current capability and addresses National Defense Strategy Key Operational Problems.

Named performers on project 674820

Performers named in the R-3 exhibit under this project. Share is of the project's whole FY2027 R-3 total — the same denominator the program-element split uses, so the two read on one scale and will not sum to 100% when unnamed or government work is in the mix. Budget-justification contract funding, not obligations.
