What the FY2027 request buys

Verbatim from the R-2A exhibit for project JWN of PE 0305282K. This is the budget justification's own description of work that has not happened yet — the one thing no other level of the budget carries.

FY2027 planned work

Increase Impact Level (IL) -5 and IL-6 network transport by 50%. Complete Network Operations (NETOPS), and Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) support and build cyber sensor architecture. Complete JFN operations center in Japan. DISA enhanced architecture and IL-7+ cloud capability.

FY2026 to FY2027 change

The increase of +$25.000 million from FY 2026 to FY 2027 is for the addition of 10 JFN nodes to the overall architecture, the addition of edge compute devices for coalition interoperability, and the application of agnostic peering gateways for improved resiliency.

Before the request year

FY2026: the year under way

Prior-year accomplishments and current-year plans from the same exhibit. Context for the FY2027 plan, not a series — an activity partitions its project exactly in the request year, but can under-cover it in earlier years.

FY2026 plans — current year

Development of a resilient network for Fires data in USINDOPACOM with redundancy and security. Implementation of dynamic software defined networking that is highly adaptable to changes in the operational environment. Develop and deploy scaled secure and resilient networking to Joint Fires Network nodes and centers.

Money

Three years, and no five-year plan

An R-2A activity publishes the prior year, the current year and the budget year. The FYDP outyears exist at project and program-element level and are deliberately absent here rather than inferred. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure.

This activity is 100% of project JWN's FY2027 request and 100% of PE 0305282K's. In the request year the activities under a project sum to it exactly; in the current year they under-cover it in about 9% of cases, so an activity's delta can legitimately exceed its parent's and the two must not be compared row to row.
