## What the FY2027 request buys

**FY2027 planned work.** - Reduce Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) of qNICs towards deployable hardware package. - Test, evaluate, and document developed quantum-augmented network protocols for standardization of protocols. - Develop and evaluate proof of concept over air quantum-augmented links by modifying qNICs.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** The FY 2027 increase reflects the shift from design and demonstration of initial components to the design and demonstration of deployable hardware and networks.

## Before the request year

**FY2026 plans — current year.** - Integrate fabricated quantum-network interface cards (qNICs) in a quantum-augmented network and demonstrate quantum communication, sensing, and timing algorithms. - Demonstrate advanced quantum-augmented network functionality by embedding quantum sensing and quantum time transfer into classical data streams. - Test and evaluate security capabilities of a prototype, quantum-augmented network to detect and mitigate network attacks.
