## What project MSL-03 buys

The Electronic Technology project pursues materials, devices, and architectures that will enable dramatic improvements over the current state-of-the-art. Areas of particular emphasis of this work include the development of techniques for advanced fabrication and test and the development of technologies that support electronics reuse and recycling. These technologies will reduce the barriers to designing and fabricating advanced technologies and exploit improved manufacturing techniques to provide these advanced technologies faster and cheaper to the warfighter. Prior to FY 2026, efforts in this Project were funded in PE 0602716E, Project ELT-01.

### Electronic Technology Studies and Concepts

**FY2027 planned work.** - Perform initial design photonic and optical components using optimized materials systems and device wavelengths. - Evaluate applications areas that could be enabled using novel concepts in electronics that are inaccessible by traditional electronics. - Investigate the benefits of non-traditional circuits as compared to traditional electronics. - Initiate the design and development of photonic, electronics, MEMS, or quantum hybrid circuits.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** The FY 2027 decrease reflects the strategic prioritization of concepts and studies investments.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** - Perform study of current state-of-the-art for the integration of organic and electronic devices to include potential use cases. - Perform study of the current state-of-the-art materials systems and wavelengths used in photonic and optical components. - Evaluate applications areas that could be enabled using non-traditional photonic and optical wavelengths. - Initiate design activity for the integration of organic and electronic devices for relevant use cases.

### Highly Accelerated Learnings of Vibratory Systems (HALOVS)

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** The FY 2027 decrease reflects program completion.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** - Achieve high velocity motion with a tethered microsystem on chip exceeding the fracture limit of polycrystalline silicon. - Perform preliminary experiments to demonstrate the shock and vibration immunity of mechanical frequency combs. - Demonstrate stability of surfaces to extend the long-term bias stability and aging of sensors.
