FY2027 Request
$23.2M
◆ New start in FY2027
HitchAI read

This activity requests $23.2M in FY2027, 89% of project AH9 — a new start with no prior-year and no current-year money. The R-2A exhibit describes it across FY2027, including what the FY2027 money is planned to buy.

New start

This activity requests $23.2M in FY2027 with no prior-year and no current-year funding. There is no incumbent line to compare it with — it did not exist before this President's Budget.

What the FY2027 request buys

Verbatim from the R-2A exhibit for project AH9 of PE 0602141A. This is the budget justification's own description of work that has not happened yet — the one thing no other level of the budget carries.

FY2027 planned work

Will design and develop novel pyrotechnic components and configurations to extend shelf life, improve safety, and enable aerial denial capabilities, while investigating advanced igniters and precision self-destruct components; develop and validate advanced modeling and simulation techniques to enhance shaped charge performance, explosively formed penetrators, and fragmentation mechanisms for lethal uncrewed systems, counter-UAS, anti-armor, and mobility operations; mature explosive and propulsion technologies to increase lethality and range; investigate the utility of new energetics for unmanned systems.

FY2026 to FY2027 change

This is not a new start. Funding increase reflects the consolidation of other ongoing efforts within this project from Advanced Pyrotechnics, Next Generation Warheads Technology, and Next Generation Energetics Technology to support the creation of Next Generation Energetics and Warheads Applied Tech. Funding increase supports focused energetic investments advancing armament lethality in the tactical battlespace and collaborates with leading uncrewed systems industry partners to shorten development timelines.

Money

Three years, and no five-year plan

An R-2A activity publishes the prior year, the current year and the budget year. The FYDP outyears exist at project and program-element level and are deliberately absent here rather than inferred. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure.

This activity is 89% of project AH9's FY2027 request and 10% of PE 0602141A's. In the request year the activities under a project sum to it exactly; in the current year they under-cover it in about 9% of cases, so an activity's delta can legitimately exceed its parent's and the two must not be compared row to row.
