> **NEW START.** $23.2M requested in FY2027 with no prior-year and no current-year funding.

## Summary

This activity requests $23.2M in FY2027, 89% of project AH9 — a new start with no prior-year and no current-year money. The R-2A exhibit describes it across FY2027, including what the FY2027 money is planned to buy.

## What the FY2027 request buys

**FY2027 planned work.** Will design and develop novel pyrotechnic components and configurations to extend shelf life, improve safety, and enable aerial denial capabilities, while investigating advanced igniters and precision self-destruct components; develop and validate advanced modeling and simulation techniques to enhance shaped charge performance, explosively formed penetrators, and fragmentation mechanisms for lethal uncrewed systems, counter-UAS, anti-armor, and mobility operations; mature explosive and propulsion technologies to increase lethality and range; investigate the utility of new energetics for unmanned systems.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** This is not a new start. Funding increase reflects the consolidation of other ongoing efforts within this project from Advanced Pyrotechnics, Next Generation Warheads Technology, and Next Generation Energetics Technology to support the creation of Next Generation Energetics and Warheads Applied Tech. Funding increase supports focused energetic investments advancing armament lethality in the tactical battlespace and collaborates with leading uncrewed systems industry partners to shorten development timelines.

## Funding

| Fiscal Year | Estimate Type | Amount ($M) |
|---|---|---|
| FY2027 | Request | 23.2 |

> Prior, current and budget year only — an R-2A activity carries no five-year plan. It sums exactly into its project in the request year and not necessarily in any other.
