## What project DB2 buys

Future Armaments Scalable Technologies addresses the need to enhance the capability of existing and future critical enabling technologies. This effort will mature critical armament component technologies in the areas of energetics & warheads, fuzing & sensing, guidance navigation and control (GNC), materials & structures in order to support critical technology insertions into program requirements. Work in this project is performed by the Armaments Center (AC).

### Battery Enabled Missiles & Munitions Range Enhancements (BEMMRE) — NEW START

**FY2027 planned work.** Will exploit new materials for thermal batteries, liquid reserve batteries, and power generators to mitigate material obsolescence issues and reduce supply chain risk in the munitions power industry. Will mature liquid reserve batteries for lethal engagements. Will mature liquid reserve and thermal batteries for artillery.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Not a new start. Funding reflects additional research in next-generation batteries for munitions.

### Enhanced Liquid Reserve for Counter UAS — NEW START

**FY2027 planned work.** Will mature and optimize liquid reserve battery prototypes for activation and performance metrics. Will demonstrate improved liquid reserve battery prototypes activation and performance via air gun and live fire.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding increase to conduct the live fire demonstrations of the liquid reserve battery prototypes.

### Future Armaments Scalable Advanced Technology — NEW START

**FY2027 planned work.** Will mature and demonstrate advanced warhead designs, including higher-performance JAGM warheads and integrated solutions for counter-UAS, by evaluating penetration at various standoffs and validating full system configurations; mature configurable fuzing architectures to meet standards and mission requirements and demonstrates their scalability.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Not a new start. Funding increase reflects realignment within the project to mature and demonstrate advanced warheads.

### Low Overpressure Breaching Charge — NEW START

**FY2027 planned work.** Will improve prototype breaching charges to minimize blast overpressure exposure to soldiers and optimize effects on target.

### Future Armaments Scalable Technology

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding decrease reflects the completion of this effort.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** Will demonstrate a full thermal reserve battery capable of providing power and energy for munition extended range applications utilizing advanced materials and the secondary heating element developed by this effort; validate the thermal reserve battery in a relevant environment; demonstrate an Electronic Safe and Arm Device (ESAD) capable of extended range application in a fully electronic fuze that has been ballistically fired to verify functionality.

**FY2025 accomplishments.** Will mature armament specific components for electronic safe and arm, thermal batteries for fuzing, and novel countermeasure solutions; improve performance of fuzing and sensing components, and energetic materials through gun firing; optimize advanced materials and technologies for future munition and weapon system capabilities for survival in extreme environments.

### CL-20 Hellfire Warhead Demo

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding decrease reflects realignment to Future Armaments Scalable Technology Applied Tech within this project.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** Will mature and demonstrate advanced CL-20 explosive formulations; optimize warhead design and assembly procedures and demonstrate performance metrics for system integration in a relevant environment.

### Common Armament Guidance & Fuzing Tech (CAG-FT)

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding decrease reflects realignment to Future Armaments Scalable Technology Applied Tech within this project.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** Will mature the design of a configurable fuzing architecture, optimizing interface configurability against a broad range of requirements, and improve the design through selection of common component footprints and functionality; assess common operational and technical requirements to validate design framework, optimizing the initial design of the fuze architecture schematic with demonstration of form factor standards.
