FY2027 Request
$14.6M
◆ New start in FY2027
HitchAI read

This activity requests $14.6M in FY2027, 30% of project BC9 — a new start with no prior-year and no current-year money. The R-2A exhibit describes it across FY2027, including what the FY2027 money is planned to buy.

New start

This activity requests $14.6M in FY2027 with no prior-year and no current-year funding. There is no incumbent line to compare it with — it did not exist before this President's Budget.

What the FY2027 request buys

Verbatim from the R-2A exhibit for project BC9 of PE 0603118A. This is the budget justification's own description of work that has not happened yet — the one thing no other level of the budget carries.

FY2027 planned work

Extreme Batteries Technology: Will integrate and demonstrate low temperature / high-capacity Group 3 UAS batteries into a UAS platform TRV150 for demonstration at a relevant operational environment during Arctic Edge 27 to increase operational capacity at extreme cold weather by at least 50%. Will develop and demonstrate high temperature high humidity batteries for soldier applications in a lab environment. Advanced Small Unit Tactical Power: Will demonstrate rechargeable safe, high-energy density batteries that operate in extreme temperature environments to provide power for the Soldier's mission command, communication, and small Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS); demonstrate Soldier and Squad power generators to enable expeditionary recharging of batteries during extended dismounted operations; conduct operational user assessments to evaluate Small Unit power systems in the field with Soldiers.

FY2026 to FY2027 change

Funding increase reflects investments to focus on developing high-density, lightweight, and durable batteries that perform in diverse environments. Funding increase supports of strategic priorities in providing small unit power solutions.

Three years, and no five-year plan

An R-2A activity publishes the prior year, the current year and the budget year. The FYDP outyears exist at project and program-element level and are deliberately absent here rather than inferred. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure.

This activity is 30% of project BC9's FY2027 request and 12% of PE 0603118A's. In the request year the activities under a project sum to it exactly; in the current year they under-cover it in about 9% of cases, so an activity's delta can legitimately exceed its parent's and the two must not be compared row to row.
