## Summary

This activity requests $284.1M in FY2027, 67% of project 066, up 1270% on FY2026. The R-2A exhibit describes it across FY2026–FY2027, including what the FY2027 money is planned to buy.

## What the FY2027 request buys

**FY2027 planned work.** These funds will support projects selected from the FY 2026 JHTO S&T solicitation and those identified through the FY 2026 technology demonstration plans developed by JHTO cross-service Integrated Product Teams. Technologies will be matured and demonstrated in the areas of collaborative engagement with multi-payload deployment mechanisms, novel detonation-based propulsion technologies, rigorous thermal protections system material testing, robust and integrated alternative navigation technologies, additively manufactured radomes and apertures, and utilizing simulation environments to support mission or systems engineering analyses.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** The $263.330 million increase from FY 2026 and FY 2027 supports a greater emphasis on operational technology demonstrations that accelerate the integration of advanced capabilities into emerging programs, including enhanced lethality, air-breathing propulsion technologies, and improved navigation. An increase of $45.000 million designated as Munitions - Joint Hypersonics Transition Office Technology Maturation will make investments in assured position, navigation and timing, cooperative engagement, and other classified technologies. A $5.000 million increase for Next Generation Hypersonic Concepts Studies will provide robust analysis based on modeling and simulation to derive technical requirements and drive effective technical trade decisions. An additional $0.330 million accounts for inflation adjustments for non-pay and non-fuel purchases.

## Before the request year

**FY2026 plans — current year.** These funds will support projects selected from the FY 2025 JHTO S&T solicitation and those identified through the FY 2025 technology demonstration plans developed by JHTO cross-service Integrated Product Teams. Technologies will be matured and demonstrated in the areas of robust navigation (to ensure that hypersonic systems arrive at the target), target seeking and target recognition (to increase the hit probability), thermal management and power generation (to reduce hypersonic system size and weight), highly manufacturable heat shields and structures (to improve hypersonic system affordability), scramjet propulsion technologies and design tools (to decrease the development timelines of novel propulsion systems), enhanced weapon effects and warhead system design (to enhance the lethality of hypersonic weapons), and kill chain analysis and demonstration (to better support warfighting objectives).

## Funding

| Fiscal Year | Estimate Type | Amount ($M) |
|---|---|---|
| FY2026 | Enacted | 20.7 |
| FY2027 | Request | 284.1 |

> Prior, current and budget year only — an R-2A activity carries no five-year plan. It sums exactly into its project in the request year and not necessarily in any other.
