## What project A73 buys

This project develops Enhanced On-Platform Power and Data Management as the critical enabler for rapidly deployable, scalable, and adaptable Electronic Warfare (EW) capabilities. This project will demonstrate comprehensive on-platform solutions leveraging commercially developed technologies and open architectures to deliver rapid, cost-effective capabilities for the U.S. Army. The goal is to significantly increase warfighter survivability and lethality by optimizing ground vehicle power, electronics, and data systems for integrated EW operations. This includes advancements in power generation, high-density energy storage, and intelligent distribution networks. Meeting the escalating power and data demands of modern EW systems - including advanced techniques like jamming, AI-powered signal processing, and wideband spectrum monitoring - necessitates breakthroughs in energy storage density, efficiency, and robust data distribution infrastructures. The Project will mature technologies focused on protection and survivability, defeating ground threats through non-kinetic EW effects. Key technical challenges include increasing power and energy storage density while minimizing size and weight, optimizing on-platform data and sensor distribution networks, and effectively managing thermal loads generated by high-power components. Success will enable faster integration of EW capabilities, reduce reliance on proprietary solutions, and support a more agile and responsive force. Work in this project is performed by the Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) and Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Center.

### Vehicle Power Generation and Energy Storage for EW/CUAS/C2 — NEW START

**FY2027 planned work.** Will optimize and exploit power generation, energy storage and power distribution components, complete demonstrator vehicle integration and demonstrate power and energy enabled capabilities, such as EW, CUAS, C2, in Soldier-operated evaluations.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding increase will demonstrate integrated onboard power and energy solutions to support EW, DE, and C2 systems.

### EW Sensing and Countermeasures

**FY2027 planned work.** Will demonstrate EW detection of multi spectral threats within a formation protection system approach; will mature EW techniques to defeat emerging highly capable multi-spectral threats to Army platforms; will exploit developments within EW protection community to mature concepts to defeat non-traditionally guided threats to Army platforms.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding increase is an economic adjustment.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** Will provide techniques to defeat emerging highly capable multi-spectral threats to Army ground vehicles; optimize threat detection and countermeasure hardware to address threats with non-traditional trajectories and kill chains; demonstrate improved EW defeat optimized for multi-platform formation-based protection.

### High Power Batteries for EW Payloads — NEW START

**FY2027 planned work.** Will demonstrate optimized high-power on-platform energy storage and power generation subcomponent solutions in a lab setting; demonstrate unitization of power generation and energy storage capabilities with appropriate thermal management and electronic components for a modular EW power solution capable of meeting various EW payload power profiles in a relevant environment.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding increase will mature and demonstrate modular, high-density energy storage and power generation solutions to meet advanced electromagnetic warfare requirements.
