## What project CE9 buys

Improve defeat of imprecisely located and relocated/moving targets by leveraging and advancing component technologies in armament technologies (multi-mode g-hardened seekers for cross spectrum targeting, advanced guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) and in-flight update technologies). Work in this project complements PE 0602141A (Lethality Technology) / Project AH9 (Advanced Warheads Technology) and PE 0602147A (Long Range Precision Fires Technology) / Project AG4 (Extended Range Artillery Munition Suite Technology) and Project BN5 (Fuze and Power for Munitions). Work in this project is performed by the Armaments Center (AC).

### Multidomain Artillery Munition Adv Tech

**FY2027 planned work.** Will demonstrate payloads at sub-scale level; validate structural configurations and form/fit/function of component technology in an integrated payload configuration; mature payload designs for integration into munition and begin validation of functionality.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding increase reflects increased number of demonstrations to validate payloads at the sub-scale level

**FY2026 plans — current year.** Will mature payload designs and interfaces to provide optimized effectiveness and capabilities within the 155mm operational mission space; begin validation of gun launch survivability models and payload effectiveness through testing of subsystem technologies and demonstrations.

### Strategic Armaments Advanced Tech

**FY2027 planned work.** Will mature multi-modal seeker technologies to support electro-optical/infrared and radio frequency (RF) synthetic aperture radar imaging sensors; exploit hardware in the loop to mature precision technologies for in-flight and terminal engagement; mature advanced RF effects to improve in-flight munition survivability.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding increase reflects maturation of multi-modal seeker technologies and hardware in the loop validation.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** Will mature advanced targeting and course correction technologies for continued operations in a contested battlespace; exploit emerging technologies to improve munition survivability and requirements for engagement salvos; mature precision component technologies for in-flight targeting and terminal engagement to deliver lethal and non-lethal enhanced tactical fires effects across domains of operation.

**FY2025 accomplishments.** Will optimize advanced targeting capabilities, multi-modal navigation, kinematic maneuver authority, course correction, collaborative and in-flight targeting, and terminal engagement mechanisms and technologies for artillery systems; mature energetics, warheads, fuzing, and precision component technologies into artillery munitions and submunitions to provide lethal and non-lethal enhanced tactical fires effects for multi-domain operations.

### Accurate Affordable Indirect Massed Fires (AAIM) — NEW START

**FY2027 planned work.** Will mature a suite of targeting technologies to achieve reduced dispersion; begin validating technologies via modeling of incremental improvements to dispersion.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding increase reflects initiation of this effort. Funding will be used to begin validating technologies via modeling of incremental improvements to dispersion.

### Armament Based BOP Mitigation — NEW START

**FY2027 planned work.** Will provide upgrade kits to upgrade M777; demonstrate manned firing via soldier touch points and user engagements in support of a Transformation in Contact (TiC) event.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding increase reflects the strategic realignment of resources to support evolving priorities and objectives. Funding increase reflects user engagements and Soldier Touch Points.

### Zonable Artillery Propulsion System

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Funding decrease reflects termination of this effort.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** Will mature ignition system performance for artillery charge systems by leveraging advanced propellent initiation mechanisms.
