## Summary

This activity requests $16.1M in FY2027, 26% of project AET-03, up 412% on FY2026. The R-2A exhibit describes it across FY2026–FY2027, including what the FY2027 money is planned to buy.

## What the FY2027 request buys

**FY2027 planned work.** - Use formal analysis to prove the fidelity of scanned electronic devices. - Develop scalable software analysis, sandboxing, and surveillance techniques to secure software development. - Mitigate vulnerabilities to secure Department of War infrastructure. - Use models of emergent communications as the basis for networks with strong privacy guarantees. - Develop techniques for rapid reconstitution following any large-scale internet disruption/outage. - Develop rigorous engineering approaches for assuring the use of foundation models in safety-critical systems. - Develop physics-informed multimodal foundation models to enable rapid generation of highly accurate digital twins. - Develop methods and tools to provide real-time ephemeral tactical data protection.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** The FY 2027 increase reflects studies and concepts initiations including, but not limited to, the advancement of new technologies to support secure software development through scalable software analysis, sandboxing, and surveillance techniques, to enable rapid reconstitution following any large-scale internet disruption/outage and to support development of physics-informed multimodal foundation models to enable rapid generation of highly accurate digital twins.
