> **NEW START.** $577.6M requested in FY2027 with no prior-year and no current-year funding.

## Summary

This activity requests $577.6M in FY2027, 99% of project 0413 — a new start with no prior-year and no current-year money. The R-2A exhibit describes it across FY2027, including what the FY2027 money is planned to buy.

## What the FY2027 request buys

**FY2027 planned work.** In FY 2027, the BBG(X) program will execute the Preliminary Design phase. This phase will mature the Initial Baseline design by developing the initial ship specifications and completing the selection of major system components. The team will focus on accelerating the design timeline through decisive action in support of design maturation. A technical assessment of the system development specification and ship design will be completed to ensure operational requirements can be met. Key outcomes will include determining the ship's major dimensions, margin allocations (space, weight, power, and cooling - SWAP-C), and the locations of major system components. Digital Engineering activities will also continue, focusing on the establishment of the Computer-Aided Design/Product Lifecycle Management (CAD/PLM) environment and related pilot demonstrations. This initiative follows the Common Design CAD/PLM Tool selection that occurred in FY26. The BBG(X) program will collaborate with shipyards to develop a 3D common design product model, which is scheduled for completion during the functional design phase. Hull form model testing will be conducted on a preliminary hull form, with the final hull form set to be determined in FY 2027. Warfare Systems Development and will focus on rapid prototype and integration of the BBG(X) tactical control systems. Specific activities focus on the integration of key systems, sensors, and weapons, including the Integrated Combat System (ICS), SPY-6 Air Missile Defense Radar (AMDR), Vertical Launch Systems (VLS), Mk45 Mod 4 Gun Weapon System, Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM), survivable C4I Suite, and Large Missile Launchers through coordinated hardware and software integration, interface definition, and validation of system performance within the platform's warfare systems architecture. C4I and Aviation activities include maturation of system interfaces, validation of combat system functionality, and integration of unmanned system command (including MUSV) and control capabilities, contributing to the development of an integrated warfare system baseline that ensures interoperability across Combat, C4I, and Aviation domains and enables effective response to current and emerging threats. These efforts support analytical studies and engineering assessments to "design-for; not-with" future warfare systems and capability increments, potentially in the form of BLK or FLT upgrades, including potential integration of Directed Energy Weapons such as Electro-magnetic Railgun (EMRG) and Lasers. Collectively, these activities reduce technical and schedule risk, support design completion, and enable an efficient transition to production aligned with an initial construction window in 2028. IPS risk reduction activities are being accomplished under PE 0603573N / PU 2486.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** FY 2026 to FY 2027 increased in the amount of $577.624M due to the transition of FY 2026 DDG(X) PE 0603564N / PU 0411 efforts to FY 2027 BBG(X), PE 0603564N / PU 0413, as well as a result of a FY 2027 expanded scope and accelerated schedule. The condensed construction time is in support of the Golden Fleet shipbuilding plan.

| FY2026 | Enacted | 0.0 |
| FY2027 | Request | 577.6 |

> Prior, current and budget year only — an R-2A activity carries no five-year plan. It sums exactly into its project in the request year and not necessarily in any other.
