### High Power Microwave Technologies

**FY2027 planned work.** In FY 2027, the High Power Microwave Technologies effort and associated funding transferred within this Program to Project 633151 / Directed Energy Technology Development, to provide Congress with improved understanding and traceability of the discrete Directed Energy technology areas in Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E), Air Force, Budget Activity (BA) 3.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** FY 2027 funding decreased by 4.383 million due to the administrative transfer of the High Power Microwave Technologies effort and all associated funding to Project 633151, Directed Energy Technology Development. This action was taken to consolidate all Directed Energy technology areas within the Program Element, providing Congress with improved understanding and traceability of the discrete technology areas.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** - Continue in-house government exploration of novel methods to increase power; focus on reducing the logistical requirements and maintenance requirements of the sources. Activities include: making sources more reliable and robust. - Continue a base defense demonstration with Directed Energy Frontline Electromagnetic Neutralization and Defeat (DEFEND) system in collaboration with the Navy. - Continue in-house government design effort of antenna for base defense and airborne applications with a focus on designing conformal antennas. - Continue in-house government design effort of new sources for airborne applications with a focus on new frequencies and waveforms.
