## What project DK7 buys

The 155mm Artillery Propulsion Modernization (Advanced Component Development) project supports the United States Army's Field Artillery modernization objectives by developing and maturing three propulsion system components: (1) modular charge that achieves minimum to intermediate ranges, (2) supercharge that achieves maximum range, and (3) percussion primer that initiates both the modular and supercharges. Development efforts also include the design of packaging solutions required for protection during transportation and long-term storage, digital engineering, test measurement devices and modeling and simulation tools. Design emphasis will shift from Joint Ballistic Memorandum of Understanding (JBMOU) compatibility to down selected Mobile Tactical Cannon (MTC) that maximizes interoperability with foreign allies, ensuring that the components support manufacturability within the National Technology and Industrial Base (NTIB). Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 funding will support continued prototyping and testing of propelling charges, combustible cases, additives, and ignition components to advance technologies that improve propellant effectiveness, extend cannon life, enhance primer and charge ignition performance, optimize system-level handling, rates of fire, and overall propulsion suitability and survivability.

**R-3 lines of work:** Management Services; Product Development; Support; Test and Evaluation.

Congressional marks, the R-2 mission description and acquisition strategy, the industry vs government split of the whole request, and related program elements are recorded at **program-element** grain — an NDAA mark lands on a PE, never on a project.
