## Summary

This activity requests $118.3M in FY2027, 46% of project 549, up 16% on FY2026. The R-2A exhibit describes it across FY2026–FY2027, including what the FY2027 money is planned to buy.

## What the FY2027 request buys

**FY2027 planned work.** Continue efforts to address bioindustrial manufacturing capacity shortfalls in the domestic bioindustrial base. Key areas of interest are DoW relevant critical chemicals, hypersonic applications, energetic material precursors, alternatives to petroleum or petroleum-derived products, and DoW relevant materials for forward operating missions. Starting in FY 2026, initiate at least two promising technology maturation projects emerging from planning analysis of candidate molecules, Tri-Service Biotechnology for a Resilient Supply Chain (T-BRSC) efforts, or biotechnology MII developed technologies. Successful outcome of these projects will lead to at least one capacity expansion project.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** The increase of $15.930 million between FY 2026 and FY 2027 reflects increases for INDOPACOM Critical Priorities.

## Before the request year

**FY2026 plans — current year.** Continue efforts to address bioindustrial manufacturing capacity shortfalls in the domestic bioindustrial base.
