What the FY2027 request buys
Verbatim from the R-2A exhibit for project 642597 of PE 0603742F. This is the budget justification's own description of work that has not happened yet — the one thing no other level of the budget carries.
-Continue maturation of air target sensor feature extraction algorithms for implementation with the JMAC CID framework. -Complete maturation and effectiveness testing of the JMAC air target algorithms on F-15. -Continue expansion of sensor feature extraction implementation for advancing CID on future platform sensors and incorporation of those extracted features into developing databases. -Continue flight demonstration and data analysis of feature extraction algorithms. -Advance JMAC air target integration planning for 5th generation air dominance platforms based on planned platform sensor improvements. -Initiate planning for JMAC integration efforts on Air Force Command and Control (C2) Platforms. -Continue studies for integration of off-board CID data (into JMAC) from ISR platforms, weapons platforms, unmanned aerial platforms, and space assets in support of Air Force long range kill chains.
FY 2027 increased compared to FY 2026 by $1.935 million to account for cost growth associated increasing software development costs and software integration onto actual platforms.
FY2026: the year under way
Prior-year accomplishments and current-year plans from the same exhibit. Context for the FY2027 plan, not a series — an activity partitions its project exactly in the request year, but can under-cover it in earlier years.
-Continue maturation of air target sensor feature extraction algorithms for implementation with the JMAC CID framework. -Complete maturation and effectiveness testing of the JMAC air target algorithms on both F-16 and F-15. -Expand sensor feature extraction implementation for advancing CID on future platform sensors and incorporation of those extracted features into developing databases. -Continue flight demonstration and data analysis of feature extraction algorithms. -Advance JMAC air target integration planning for 5th generation air dominance platforms based on planned platform sensor improvements. -Initiate JMAC integration efforts on Air Force Command and Control (C2) Platforms. -Initiate studies for integration of off-board CID data (into JMAC) from ISR platforms, weapons platforms, unmanned aerial platforms, and space assets in support of Air Force long range kill chains.
Three years, and no five-year plan
An R-2A activity publishes the prior year, the current year and the budget year. The FYDP outyears exist at project and program-element level and are deliberately absent here rather than inferred. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure.
| Fiscal Year | Estimate Type | Amount ($M) |
|---|---|---|
| FY2025 | Actual | 7.4 |
| FY2026 | Enacted | 9.6 |
| FY2027 | Request | 11.5 |
This activity is 50% of project 642597's FY2027 request and 45% of PE 0603742F's. In the request year the activities under a project sum to it exactly; in the current year they under-cover it in about 9% of cases, so an activity's delta can legitimately exceed its parent's and the two must not be compared row to row.
