The Understand Advanced Component Development and Prototypes (ACD&P) Project provides the Joint Force the ability to continually receive information about the chemical and biological (CB) situation at a desired time and place by detecting, identifying, and quantifying CB hazards in air, water, or on land, and on personnel, equipment or facilities. Efforts also develop a clear understanding of the current and predicted CB situation; collect, query, and assimilate information from sensors in real time to inform decisions and provide impacts of CB hazards. ### 2) Advanced and Emerging Threat Defense (AET DEFENSE)

**FY2027 planned work.** Continue efforts to produce additional data to better assess detection, protection, and hazard mitigation capabilities against chemical, biological, toxic, and other threats. Conduct workshops on understanding advanced and emerging threat priorities to align with the CBDP. Conduct market surveys and assessments of technologies for rapid fielding by Chemical Biological Defense Program to mitigate current, advanced, or emerging threat gaps as needed.

### 5) Far Forward Biological Sequencing (FFBS) - Increment 2

**FY2027 planned work.** FFBS Increment 2 will continue prototype development and testing of up to two promising S&T performers under TTA # 26-FFBS-25-001T with a planned down-select to one to enter Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD).

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Program/project transitioned to Advanced Technology Development. Funding continues development for FFBS Increment 2 to automate sampling capability for Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) and Ribonucleic acid (RNA) for biological sequencing to support Engineering and Manufacturing insertion of technology.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** Initiate FFBS Increment 2 into the Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction phase to support automated sampling capability for Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) and Ribonucleic acid (RNA) for biological sequencing. Initiate the laboratory-level prototype build, and continue Test and Evaluation Integrated Product Team (IPTs) from Increment 1.

### 3) Colorimetric Indicator (CIND)

**FY2027 planned work.** Perform required testing in coordination with evaluator's to develop modified Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) systems to the warfighter that meet the requirements. This will support Capability Set #2 Milestone C in FY 2028. ### 6) Genomic Enabled Sequencing (GENOMES) — NEW START

**FY2027 planned work.** Investigate methods to identify toxins, fungi, and agnostic unknown biological threat agents using genomic sequencing. Areas of development will include both wet laboratory protocols and bioinformatics/data analysis. Funds will also cover the quality assurance and quality control of consumables from commercial vendors, to ensure compatibility with systems being fielded under Programs of Record. Funds will support the enabling sequencing efforts across the CBDP, to include shelf-stabilization of reagents requiring cold storage. Funds will support Market Research - Automated Sample Preparation. Fund program management and administration processes to include but not limited to program oversight, resource justification, budgeting and programming, and schedule tracking.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** Complete competitive prototyping efforts and conclude Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction (TMRR) activities for candidate technologies, in support of Milestone B and entrance into Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase.

**FY2025 accomplishments.** Developed and evaluated three prototype diagnostic candidates.

### 7) Multi Phase Chemical Sampling and Analysis (MPCSA) — NEW START

**FY2027 planned work.** Begin developmental testing on prototypes transitioned from Science and Technology (S&T). Complete necessary requirements for successful Milestone A decision planned in fourth quarter FY 2027. Begin Program management and administration processes to include but not limited to program oversight, resource justification, budgeting and programming, milestone and schedule tracking.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Investment transitions technologies from Science and Technology for Advanced Development, including the Portable Environmental Monitoring Mass Spectrometer chemical detection capability.

### 9) Physiological Monitoring Sensor Suite (PM2S)

**FY2025 accomplishments.** FY 2025 efforts supported advanced experimentation activities with joint warfighters to identify CB defense capability gaps across the services. As part of a coordinated experimentation campaign, the program used BA4 to finish development of a joint service algorithm software environment that enables the integration, packaging, and DoD-wide deployment of software capabilities transitioned from Science & Technology partners. This software environment will install on the hardware-focused Chemical and Biological Wearables - Enhanced Biological Defense (CB WEARABLES-ENBD) solution set, which will provide an additional layer of sensing to rapidly detect CB threats across the joint forces, decrease risk to mission, and risk to force.

### 10) Chemical and Biological Wearables (CB WEARABLES)

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Program/project funding transferred to another funding line. Efforts transitioned from BA4 to BA5 in support of System Development and Demonstration activities.

**FY2026 plans — current year.** Efforts support advanced experimentation activities with joint warfighters to identify CB defense capability gaps across the services. As part of a coordinated experimentation campaign, the program will use BA4 to harden non- and minimally-invasive physiological monitoring software capabilities transitioned from the PM2S program line and from CBDP Science and Technology (S&T) partners.

### 11) Non-targeted Sequencing Identification System (NSIS)

**FY2025 accomplishments.** Funding was awarded for bioinformatics software development, test articles, developmental testing, and a Soldier touchpoint. Funds also supported program labor, office management, and administrative processes to include program oversight, resource justification, budgeting and programming, milestone and schedule tracking.
