## Summary

This activity requests $117.9M in FY2027, 94% of project MM09, up 1988% on FY2026. The R-2A exhibit describes it across FY2026–FY2027, including what the FY2027 money is planned to buy.

## What the FY2027 request buys

**FY2027 planned work.** - Commence SM-3 Block IB missile with the integration of a new DROIC into the seeker's Integrated Dewar Assembly (IDA) that increases performance, increases acquisition range, speeds discrimination, and allows for adding new threats with complex countermeasures in the defense of the homeland and increased capability against existing threats. - Commence SM-3 Block IB ASP assembly technology refresh located within the Guidance Unit (GU) and consists of an Image Processor (IP) circuit card assembly (CCA), heat plate, and Data Processor CCA. Modernization of the IP and DP CCAs increases processing power and enables other enhancements such as DROIC and SWUP. Technology Refresh also enables the use of modern algorithm development tools and processes. Allows for improved discrimination updates, increased raid performance, and adds capability against complex countermeasures with the addition of Machine learning techniques. - Commence SM-3 Block IB SWUP improvements which provide significant advanced capability and expanded threat space to combat existing and emerging threats with backfit capability at retrofit. Includes software updates such as raid enhancements and discrimination updates based on leveraging mature Blk IIA algorithms. This enhancement also includes test equipment and test lab upgrades necessary to support formal qualification, manufacturing, troubleshooting, obsolescence and reliability activities of the software design. This SWUP will be applicable on existing rounds in inventory (backfit) and new production rounds.

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** Increase from FY 2026 to FY 2027 provides for SM-3 Block IB enhancements specifically DROIC, ASP Technology Refresh, and SWUP with Lab Sustainment.

## Before the request year

**FY2026 plans — current year.** - Continuation of Guidance Section Software upgrades (GS SWUP). - Conduct and complete HERO/EMV testing of the SM-3 Block IB with higher-power Army/Navy Surface Radar Surveillance and Control radar operational environment.
