> **NEW START.** $75.6M requested in FY2027 with no prior-year and no current-year funding.

## Summary

This activity requests $75.6M in FY2027, 95% of project 3402 — a new start with no prior-year and no current-year money. The R-2A exhibit describes it across FY2027, including what the FY2027 money is planned to buy.

## What the FY2027 request buys

**FY2027 planned work.** JLWS N-150-X (Containerized) - Initiate Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) and incremental procurement of 150 kW class Containerized Laser Weapon System (LWS) - Provide programmatic and technical oversight of contract - Initiate systems engineering, ship and combat system integration requirements development - Initiate development of Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) and identification/procurement of installation material - Establish Product Support Management (PSM) including In Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) and Software Support Activity (SSA) functions - Initiate development of operation and maintenance documentation for shipboard use JLWS N-500-0 (JBCS) - Continue system design and development based off of Future Naval Capability (FNC) & Office of Secretary of War (OSW) efforts - Initiate system level optical design and testing for Joint Beam Control System (JBCS) - Order additional long lead system level procurements in support of JBCS system design - Continue development of system level Interface Control Drawings (ICDs) and Technical Data Package (TDP) for JBCS - Continue planning for JBCS integration and system test & evaluation activities JLWS N-300-0 (Lethality/Testing) - Initiate lethality-based engineering, testing & analysis, and validation of Directed Energy (DE) modeling & simulation software

**FY2026 to FY2027 change.** The FY 2026 to FY 2027 increase is for the development of a containerized 150 kW Joint Laser Weapon System (JLWS) for cruise missile defense; incrementally developing and providing at least 300kW of power building on existing laser scaling efforts; development of a Joint Beam Control System (JBCS) 300 kW of power building on existing laser scaling efforts; development of a Joint Beam Control System (JBCS) technology capable of supporting a 300-500kW laser weapon system, and conduct upgrades to the High Energy Laser Counter Anti-Ship Cruise Missile Project (HELCAP) testbed as appropriate to support JLWS testing. In coordination with the Services and the Missile Defense Agency, begin development of a consolidated implementation plan for all Golden Dome Directed Energy projects, leveraging synergy and common weapon architectures between these efforts where possible.
