### Project 0312 — NAVSEA Maritime Advanced Manufacturing

The AM program focuses on development and use of AM equipment for Naval applications in land-based and afloat applications, including system performance requirements, shipboard/expeditionary/aviation integration requirements and considerations, material selection, design optimization, equipment and component certification, and digital engineering integration. Efforts also include consideration of AM across a wide variety of potential applications ensuring AM manufactured components can meet mission requirements and that system/component technical requirements are updated to leverage AM.

## Mission & acquisition strategy

The Maritime Industrial Base's Deployable Advanced Manufacturing (AdvM) program conducts research, development, test and evaluation into various aspects of AdvM technologies in order to enhance readiness and enhance capabilities for Navy warfighters. Specifically the program provides for the development of the AdvM, to include Additive Manufacturing (AM, or 3D printing), process, material verification, and qualification to support deployment of AdvM/AM capability to Fleet Depot and Level II Maintenance level facilities. It provides for the qualification, validation, testing and incorporation of private industry AM initiatives across the Naval Aviation Enterprise to include NAVSUP and DLA.

The projects identified in this budget have been carefully selected to respond to a series of extended user evaluations of equipment by the warfighter with the goal of developing requirements for future additive manufacturing capabilities that will meet unique logistics alternatives. This effort will be executed by members of the MIB deployed AdvM program office, in conjunction with end users at the appropriate Type Commands. By working through the previously described sequence of analysis and experimental validation, we will identify the appropriate systems for deployed additive manufacturing while simultaneously informing end-user requirements development and program office acquisition plans.
