What the FY2027 request buys

FY2027 planned work

Funding will be used to complete the design, development of the Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) and Main Battle Tank (MBT) visual modification (VISMOD) variants and initiate prototyping of four additional threat vehicles. This development directly supports Army senior leader guidance to rapidly and accurately replicate threat force ground systems at the Combat Training Centers (CTC) creating a realistic and immersive training environment.

FY2026 to FY2027 change

Increase due to acceleration of prototype development from 24 to 9 months for priority VISMOD variants that will create a significantly enhanced and modernized portrayal of opposing force mechanized and tracked vehicles to replicate the operational environment at CTCs. FY2027 development will focus initially on Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) & Main Battle Tank (MBT) design, which represents the greatest threat in force-on-force training. Additional prototyping development will include threat support vehicles that will provide additional challenges to the rotational training unit. These VISMODs will include Command and Control (C2), Gun-Mortar, Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM), and Reconnaissance vehicles. Resourcing will provide multiple test events and soldier touch points to validate design and functionality.

FY2026 plans — current year

Funding will be used to initiate design, development and integration on two (2) of nine (9) Visual Modifications (VISMODS) variants. Efforts will also include Soldier touchpoints and preliminary design review.

FY2025 accomplishments

Funding will be used to complete a baseline analysis on a host chassis vehicle in order to prepare for Visual Modifications (VISMODs) to be designed, developed, and integrated into the host vehicles. Efforts will also include preparation of a contract package that will support the prototyping of the OMVR VISMODS.
