## Summary

Defense-Wide requests $23.1M in FY2027 against nothing enacted in FY2026 — the program's peak, sustained across the five-year plan. In the FY2027 defense authorization, the House funded it in full; the Senate funded it in full; House appropriators funded it in full.

## Funding profile

| Fiscal Year | Estimate Type | Amount ($M) |

### Project 671 — Weaponeering Code Sustainment

The Department of War (DoW) relies on a multitude of mission-critical modeling and simulation (M&S) codes and tools that are utilized across the munitions, platforms and warfighter communities. This program’s mission is for the sustainment of these M&S codes to keep them functioning at appropriate levels to support key DoW mission spaces. The M&S Codes have been previously developed by OUSW and DoW programs, and are continuously and incrementally improved and enhanced adding new capabilities that support evolving mission criteria. The enhancements and improvements are commonly distributed in new releases and versions of the software, and are increasingly more adaptable to digital engineering frameworks that enable Machine Learning (ML) and automated workflows. The M&S codes enable detailed design and performance assessments, augment physical testing to improve system performance and reduce costs, and support weapons employment and mission planning. Sustainment of the M&S codes includes several activities to ensure they are functioning and executing at efficient and optimal levels. Compatibility testing of new releases to assess proper functionality on DoW systems, including within the DoW High Performance Computing environment. Installation and configuration support for compatibility with DoW system requirements. Debugging and troubleshooting user problems, and direct support from the software developers for complex use cases. Developing and updating training materials for efficient implementation with users. Thorough review of the source code for new releases to ensure any sensitive content is stripped, while remaining intelligible.
