What the FY2027 request buys

Develops the HAF/A5/7 WarMatrix prototype, which recently successfully achieved Initial Operational Capability at the Global Engagement 2026 Wargame under the larger effort to modernize legacy wargaming process integration of modeling, simulation, analytical, and Artificial Intelligence capabilities. Activities include development of requirements, technical engineering artifacts, software development, architecture development, modeling, integration of data bases, and enhancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms.
Increase due to FY27 activities. FY27 funding increase provides experimentation opportunities at FY27 wargame and operational training exercise events (ie Space Force Battle School, Bamboo Eagle, Keen Edge, Global Engagement 2027) to assess WarMatrix as the DAF's proposed solution to Office Secretary of War's Joint requirement for Next-Generation Wargaming at which point funding responsibilities would transition from HAF/A5/7 to SAF/SA.
