What the FY2027 request buys

Verbatim from the R-2A exhibit for project S385 of PE 1160431BB. This is the budget justification's own description of work that has not happened yet — the one thing no other level of the budget carries.

FY2027 planned work

Continues sensor and effector evaluation and development for integration into SOF's layered FoS for mounted, dismounted, and expeditionary fixed-site configurations. Continues System Integration / Platform Integration of CUxS capabilities, with emphasis on improved detect and defeat capabilities against emergent threats while On-the-Move (OTM). Continues annual developmental and operational testing in support of fielding and deployment release updates of proven capabilities for entry into program of record.

FY2026 to FY2027 change

Increase of $0.633 million supports additional design, development, prototyping, testing, and operational assessment of CUxS sensors/effectors for integration into SOF's layered Family of Systems (FoS) with a focus on improved detection and defeat capabilities. This includes additional test and evaluation for National to Theater transition of CUxS capabilities.

FY2025–FY2026: what came before

Prior-year accomplishments and current-year plans from the same exhibit. Context for the FY2027 plan, not a series — an activity partitions its project exactly in the request year, but can under-cover it in earlier years.

FY2026 plans — current year

Continue sensor and effector evaluation and development for integration into SOF's layered FoS for mounted, dismounted, and expeditionary fixed-site configurations. Continues System Integration / Platform Integration of CUxS capabilities, with emphasis on improved group 3 crisis response capability improvements against Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) threats. Continues annual developmental and operational testing in support of fielding and deployment release updates of proven capabilities for entry into program of record.

FY2025 accomplishments

Continue sensor and effector evaluation and development for integration into SOF's layered FoS for mounted, dismounted, and expeditionary fixed-site configurations. Continue System Integration / Platform Integration of CUxS capabilities, with emphasis on improved detection/defeat capabilities and expanded networking/interoperability. Continue annual developmental and operational testing in support of fielding and deployment release updates of proven capabilities for entry into program of record.

Three years, and no five-year plan

An R-2A activity publishes the prior year, the current year and the budget year. The FYDP outyears exist at project and program-element level and are deliberately absent here rather than inferred. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure.

This activity is 22% of project S385's FY2027 request and 4.1% of PE 1160431BB's. In the request year the activities under a project sum to it exactly; in the current year they under-cover it in about 9% of cases, so an activity's delta can legitimately exceed its parent's and the two must not be compared row to row.
