What the FY2027 request buys
Verbatim from the R-2A exhibit for project 65A036 of PE 1206425SF. This is the budget justification's own description of work that has not happened yet — the one thing no other level of the budget carries.
FY 2027 will continue activities for implementation of system resiliency and situational awareness necessary to operate in the contested space domain environment. Activities may include, but are not limited to: program office support, studies, technical analysis, experimentation integration and test of command and control (C2), resiliency measures, risk mitigation, mission partner interfaces, commercial and international partner engagement, space test/combat range events and office support, etc. Continue SV contracts to design and build first RG-XX increment, award second increment of SVs to grow the constellation to meet capacity requirement, and continue ground development. SV providers will support design reviews and initiate efforts critical to timely and cost-effective SV production. SV providers will actively collaborate and coordinate with the ground-based systems provider and other SV providers to establish common standards and protocols, improving RG-XX mission effectiveness. Continue Ground development and integration efforts. Efforts include mission unique software development, infrastructure and platform provisioning and additional antenna site development. Additionally, develop training curriculum and prepare for operator training. Continue implementation of mission data processing and data dissemination efforts. Technology enhancements and prototyping efforts for space-based space domain surveillance against evolving threats, may include, but are not limited to: future upgrades, analysis, studies, demonstration, and experimentation to increase SV and constellation performance. FY 2027 will leverage opportunities for SDA space-based commercial, international, academic, and Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) partnerships. System Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) efforts may include, but are not limited to: technology road mapping and improving coordination and collaboration across RG-XX Ground and SV segments, other SDA programs, and down-stream programs anticipated to leverage RG-XX mission capabilities. Working groups will be coordinated and established, facilitating risk mitigation and cross-program collaboration, facilitating system-of-system integration and effectiveness.
FY 2027 funding increased due to addition of RG-XX funding.
Three years, and no five-year plan
An R-2A activity publishes the prior year, the current year and the budget year. The FYDP outyears exist at project and program-element level and are deliberately absent here rather than inferred. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure.
| Fiscal Year | Estimate Type | Amount ($M) |
|---|---|---|
| FY2026 | Enacted | 0.0 |
| FY2027 | Request | 355.9 |
This activity is 100% of project 65A036's FY2027 request and 27% of PE 1206425SF's. In the request year the activities under a project sum to it exactly; in the current year they under-cover it in about 9% of cases, so an activity's delta can legitimately exceed its parent's and the two must not be compared row to row.
