- Continue research and development of a wireless communications system operating at frequencies above 100 GHz (terahertz band) to provide low probability of detection (LPD) and anti-jam (AJ) properties for communications in contested environments. Activities include continuing testing and verifying advanced model-based design and characterization of the communications system.
FY 2027 funding decreased compared to FY 2026 by $3.423 million due to re-prioritization to meet the nation's future security needs and completion of research to develop radio frequency (RF) communication waveforms, completion of research and development on control technology for modular analog antenna arrays, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML)-based tactical communications waveforms, and implementation and simulation against adversarial interference conditions.

Activities include testing and assessing angle of arrival methods and quad serial peripheral interface (quad-SPI). - Complete development of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML)-based tactical communications waveforms to provide the ability to overcome adversarial interference or detection by sensing the environment and assembling some unique waveform(s). Activities include developing and testing the waveform selection algorithms over-the-air within emulated environments. - Complete implementation and simulation against several adversarial interference conditions for operationally-relevant scenarios. - Commence and complete research to develop radio frequency (RF) communication waveforms that can sustain mission data requirements while undermining non-Blue Force applications in the same bands to provide the ability to mitigate adversary communication capabilities while concurrently sustaining mission effectiveness.
