What the FY2027 request buys
Verbatim from the R-2A exhibit for project 630320 of PE 0603032F. This is the budget justification's own description of work that has not happened yet — the one thing no other level of the budget carries.
- Complete Modeling & Simulation (M&S) to enhance the M&S environment for more realistic scenarios and comprehensive algorithm testing based on available data for verification. - Continue real-time algorithm implementation by developing the core real-time algorithms for EO/IR sensor processing, focusing on basic detection and tracking functionality based on available data. - Continue algorithm optimization by refining and optimizing the existing real-time algorithms based on test results and performance analysis, focusing on improving detection accuracy, tracking robustness, and computational efficiency. - Continue software development & integration by developing the software framework and integration plans for algorithms, hardware control, and data management. - Continue development of advanced algorithm capabilities, such as improved detection sensitivity, multi-target tracking, and sensor/data fusion. - Continue development of a detailed plan for transitioning mature technology to the designated system integrator, including training and support materials. - Continue technical integration activities with the regional situational awareness products platform. - Commence a comprehensive data management plan outlining data collection, storage, processing, analysis, and security procedures.
FY 2027 funding increased compared to FY 2026 by $4.895 million due to commencement of integration efforts and development of advanced algorithm sensing, tracking and data fusion.
FY2026: the year under way
Prior-year accomplishments and current-year plans from the same exhibit. Context for the FY2027 plan, not a series — an activity partitions its project exactly in the request year, but can under-cover it in earlier years.
- Continue Modeling and Simulation (M&S) by conducting simulations to evaluate the effectiveness of the algorithms against realistic scenarios and refine operational concepts. - Complete real-time algorithm implementation by developing the core real-time algorithms for EO/IR sensor processing, focusing on basic detection and tracking functionality. - Complete algorithm optimization by refining and optimizing the existing real-time algorithms based on test results and performance analysis, focusing on improving detection accuracy, tracking robustness, and computational efficiency. - Continue software development and integration by refine software interfaces and integrate the algorithms with the hardware platform being developed in the Demo program. - Commence development of advanced algorithm capabilities, such as improved detection sensitivity, multi-target tracking, and sensor/ data fusion. - Commence work with the designated system integrator to ensure seamless transition of the technology. - Commence planning integration of the situational awareness products to enable data sharing and collaborative operations.
Three years, and no five-year plan
An R-2A activity publishes the prior year, the current year and the budget year. The FYDP outyears exist at project and program-element level and are deliberately absent here rather than inferred. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure.
| Fiscal Year | Estimate Type | Amount ($M) |
|---|---|---|
| FY2025 | Actual | 26.0 |
| FY2026 | Enacted | 31.6 |
| FY2027 | Request | 36.5 |
This activity is 13% of project 630320's FY2027 request and 13% of PE 0603032F's. In the request year the activities under a project sum to it exactly; in the current year they under-cover it in about 9% of cases, so an activity's delta can legitimately exceed its parent's and the two must not be compared row to row.
