What the FY2027 request buys
Verbatim from the R-2A exhibit for project BC1 of PE 0603118A. This is the budget justification's own description of work that has not happened yet — the one thing no other level of the budget carries.
Will initiate integration of predictive models and artificial intelligence (AI) recommender tool for Command decision support; will demonstrate and validate integration of the advanced analytic platform into a human performance data management system for Command decisions at echelon; demonstrate human-machine interaction (multi-modal input techniques) best practices; provide a family of male and female models for standard clothing and equipment applications; validate impact of technologies on physical performance, cognitive performance, recovery, etc. while under adverse conditions; mature musculoskeletal model for head-supported mass impacts on performance; mature and demonstrate refined squad combat power framework for equipment capability set evaluation.
This is not a new start effort. FY 2027 funding increase reflects the consolidation of other ongoing efforts within this project from Operational Unit Partnership and Soldier Touch Point and Soldier/Squad-System Technology Integration for Lethality & Readiness.
Three years, and no five-year plan
An R-2A activity publishes the prior year, the current year and the budget year. The FYDP outyears exist at project and program-element level and are deliberately absent here rather than inferred. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure.
| Fiscal Year | Estimate Type | Amount ($M) |
|---|---|---|
| FY2027 | Request | 15.6 |
This activity is 28% of project BC1's FY2027 request and 12% of PE 0603118A's. In the request year the activities under a project sum to it exactly; in the current year they under-cover it in about 9% of cases, so an activity's delta can legitimately exceed its parent's and the two must not be compared row to row.
