What project DL5 buys
The Extended Range Artillery Munitions (ERAM) project supports the development of a 155mm system of systems that includes projectile, propellant, primer, fuse, and fuse setter which will deliver lethality and range overmatch in 155mm artillery weapon systems at more than double the current range from legacy artillery cannons and will be compatible with future 155mm artillery systems in contested Global Positioning System (GPS) environments and suboptimal atmospheric conditions. The ERAM development effort is part of an organic Long Range Precision Fires capability, which will provide overmatching cannon artillery range capability at both Tactical and operational Fires range by shaping the nature of the close fight through seeking moving and imprecisely located targets at extended ranges, increase range capability of the current 39 caliber cannon fleet and will also be compatible with future 52 caliber and above artillery weapon systems. Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 funding will support technology maturation and risk reduction of key system and subsystems improvements in performance in difficult use cases (such as GPS contested environments and suboptimal atmospheric conditions), and integration of the tactical warhead and seeker culminating in a series of Design Verification Testing (DVT) to achieve Technology Readiness Level (TRL) six (6) maturity.

Project DL5 funding, FY2026–FY2028
Prior years are actuals, the budget year is the request, and the outyears are the FYDP plan. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure. Projects carry the full five-year plan; the activities inside them stop at the budget year.
| Fiscal Year | Estimate Type | Amount ($M) |
|---|---|---|
| FY2026 | Enacted | 44.9 |
| FY2027 | Request | 139.6 |
| FY2028 | Outyear | 74.5 |

The R-2A exhibit — the only level of the budget that describes work that has not happened yet. Activities carry the prior, current and budget year only, no five-year plan. Each describes FY2027 work in enough detail to have its own page; the rest are shown here in full. Coverage is partial across the corpus, so count activities, never total them.
Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 funding will support technology maturation and risk reduction of key system and subsystems improvements culminating in a Design Verification Test (DVT) to inform a Technical Review. This technical review will form the basis for a down selection of vendors that have the highest potential to meet cost, schedule, and…

Performers named in the R-3 exhibit under this project. Share is of the project's whole FY2027 R-3 total — the same denominator the program-element split uses, so the two read on one scale and will not sum to 100% when unnamed or government work is in the mix. Budget-justification contract funding, not obligations.
