What the FY2027 request buys

- Initiate comprehensive testing of laser beam control systems for Directed Energy assets. - Initiate mission-relevant Laser Weapon System (LWS) upgrades through data-driven technology insertions. - Initiate a surrogate Anti-Ship Cruise Missile (ASCM) target program for LWS lethality assessments.
The FY27 increase by $14.978 in Project 2731 is due to the transition to a land-based testing capability and commencing lethality data collection on mission-relevant surrogate targets with the HELCAP developed Laser Weapon Testbed (LWT) and other Directed Energy (DE) assets.
