FY2027 Request
$235.6M
◆ Restart — nothing in FY2026
HitchAI read

This activity requests $235.6M in FY2027, 100% of project DJ5 — a restart, funded in FY2025 and zeroed in FY2026. The R-2A exhibit describes it across FY2025–FY2027, including what the FY2027 money is planned to buy.

Restart

This activity was funded in FY2025 ($30.0M), zeroed in FY2026, and requests $235.6M again in FY2027. A restart has an incumbent and a new start does not; with a zero current year there is no percentage to quote, which is why it appears in no growth ranking.

What the FY2027 request buys

Verbatim from the R-2A exhibit for project DJ5 of PE 0604019A. This is the budget justification's own description of work that has not happened yet — the one thing no other level of the budget carries.

FY2027 planned work

FY 2027 funds will be used to develop a baseline architecture, allocate subsystem requirements, and initiate CBAD prime item final designs. All remaining long lead material purchases will be placed on contract. Component and subsystem Contractor Verification Testing will be initiated. Software algorithm development will also be initiated. Additionally, testing consumables necessary for cannon and projectile development and safety testing will be purchased or fabricated and developmental and safety test planning initiated. Additionally, continue Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) integration, test and verify subsystem software and performance against threats through the use of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) and Modeling and Simulations (M&S).

FY2026 to FY2027 change

FY 2027 funding increase will be used for long lead material purchases and testing of consumables necessary for cannon and projectile development and safety testing.

Before the request year

FY2025: what came before

Prior-year accomplishments and current-year plans from the same exhibit. Context for the FY2027 plan, not a series — an activity partitions its project exactly in the request year, but can under-cover it in earlier years.

FY2025 accomplishments

Establish a program office, initiate program management functions, initiate system design and development, purchase long lead items, and commence prototype fabrication.

Money

Three years, and no five-year plan

An R-2A activity publishes the prior year, the current year and the budget year. The FYDP outyears exist at project and program-element level and are deliberately absent here rather than inferred. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure.

This activity is 100% of project DJ5's FY2027 request and 100% of PE 0604019A's. In the request year the activities under a project sum to it exactly; in the current year they under-cover it in about 9% of cases, so an activity's delta can legitimately exceed its parent's and the two must not be compared row to row.
