FY2027 Request
$205.7M
◆ New start in FY2027
HitchAI read

This activity requests $205.7M in FY2027, 100% of project MD29 — a new start with no prior-year and no current-year money. The R-2A exhibit describes it across FY2026–FY2027, including what the FY2027 money is planned to buy.

New start

This activity requests $205.7M in FY2027 with no prior-year and no current-year funding. There is no incumbent line to compare it with — it did not exist before this President's Budget.

What the FY2027 request buys

Verbatim from the R-2A exhibit for project MD29 of PE 0604181C. This is the budget justification's own description of work that has not happened yet — the one thing no other level of the budget carries.

FY2027 planned work

Leverage and Upgrade Existing Systems: - Continue engineering, planning, and foundational upgrades to land and sea-based capability to support acceleration of regional and homeland Aegis Glide Phase Interceptor capability. - Provide BOA and C2BMC algorithm development and prototyping for low latency tracks as foundational efforts to support Glide Phase Interceptor Hypersonic Defense efforts. - Provide software processing improvements to enable low latency fire control tracking. - Purchase materials to support needed BOA and C2BMC upgrades to support hypersonic defense and Glide Phase Interceptor fire control tracking.

FY2026 to FY2027 change

The increase includes the transfer of funding from R-2a Accomplishment (Regional Hypersonic Missile Defense Capability) to this R-2a Accomplishment (Hypersonic Missile Defense Capability) to better reflect the regional and homeland defense capability of the Glide Phase Interceptor. The increase also provides for C2BMC and BOA support for hypersonic low latency tracking and Battle Management to enable glide phase defense capability from an Aegis ship.

Before the request year

FY2026: the year under way

Prior-year accomplishments and current-year plans from the same exhibit. Context for the FY2027 plan, not a series — an activity partitions its project exactly in the request year, but can under-cover it in earlier years.

FY2026 plans — current year

- No funding is requested in FY 2026.

Money

Three years, and no five-year plan

An R-2A activity publishes the prior year, the current year and the budget year. The FYDP outyears exist at project and program-element level and are deliberately absent here rather than inferred. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure.

This activity is 100% of project MD29's FY2027 request and 96% of PE 0604181C's. In the request year the activities under a project sum to it exactly; in the current year they under-cover it in about 9% of cases, so an activity's delta can legitimately exceed its parent's and the two must not be compared row to row.
