What the FY2027 request buys

In support of the Secretary of War’s directive to transform the Defense Innovation Ecosystem to Accelerate Warfighting Advantage, DIU will: 1) Focus on high technologies that produce overmatch domination; 2) Focus on technologies that reduce the number of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Guardians in harm’s way; 3) Focus on capabilities that can scale quickly and dramatically reduce costs.
The $317.867 million increase from FY 2026 to FY 2027 is an essential baseline requirement to support the Secretary of War’s directive to transform the Defense Innovation Ecosystem and accelerate our warfighting advantage. This targeted investment will prioritize commercial capabilities that deliver immediate results and asymmetric advantages by empowering DIU to execute DoW strategic objectives. This request guarantees DIU's ability to deliver advanced systems that ensure multi-domain supremacy, prioritize autonomous platforms to safeguard our service members from kinetic threats, and accelerate the enterprise-wide integration of affordable technologies.
