What project 621010 buys
This project develops technologies to ensure spacecraft survivability and to enhance surveillance of the space operating environment. Technology development to enhance the ability of space assets to operate effectively despite the challenges of the space environment. This includes developing radiation-hardened electronics and technologies to understand and mitigate impacts of the space environment. The focus is on characterizing and forecasting the battlespace environment for more realistic space system design, modeling, and simulation, as well as the battlespace environment's effect on space systems' performance. This includes technologies to specify and forecast the space environment for planning operations, ensure uninterrupted system performance, optimize space-based surveillance operations, and provide capability to mitigate or exploit the space environment for both offensive and defensive operations.
Project 621010 funding, FY2025–FY2031
Prior years are actuals, the budget year is the request, and the outyears are the FYDP plan. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure. Projects carry the full five-year plan; the activities inside them stop at the budget year.
| Fiscal Year | Estimate Type | Amount ($M) |
|---|---|---|
| FY2025 | Actual | 33.9 |
| FY2026 | Enacted | 36.7 |
| FY2027 | Request | 29.4 |
| FY2028 | Outyear | 30.9 |
| FY2029 | Outyear | 30.9 |
| FY2030 | Outyear | 31.7 |
| FY2031 | Outyear | 32.3 |

The R-2A exhibit — the only level of the budget that describes work that has not happened yet. Activities carry the prior, current and budget year only, no five-year plan. Each describe FY2027 work in enough detail to have their own page; the rest are shown here in full. Coverage is partial across the corpus, so count activities, never total them.
