The FY 2027 decrease reflects a reduction in research and development activities to conduct verification and validation studies of candidate countermeasure delivery vehicles.

- Demonstrate that the delivery chassis and formulation strategies are capable of delivering countermeasures to multiple cell types experimentally and in whole organisms. - Deliver countermeasure cargo in vivo using a simple administration method. - Assess the safety of the delivery chassis (e.g., minimal adverse effects) in vivo. - Measure the duration of protection following countermeasure administration using the delivery chassis.
