Mission & acquisition strategy
Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAO) are spearheading the Department of War's transformation into an AI-enabled enterprise by focusing on warfighting, intelligence, and enterprise-wide AI deployment. The core of this strategy revolves around a series of pioneering "Pace-Setting Projects" (PSPs). adoption, the Enterprise Agents PSP provides a playbook for deploying AI workflows. Underpinning all these efforts are two foundational enablers: the new War Data Platform (WDP) for standardized data access and the "GenAI.mil" initiative to scale AI tools across the force.

For warfighting, initiatives like Swarm Forge, Agent Network, and Ender's Foundry are accelerating AI in novel combat methods, battle management, and simulations. In the intelligence domain, Open Arsenal and Project Grant aim to shorten the intelligence-to-action timeline and transform deterrence strategies. To drive enterprise-wide adoption, the Enterprise Agents PSP provides a playbook for deploying AI workflows. Underpinning all these efforts are two foundational enablers: the new War Data Platform (WDP) for standardized data access and the "GenAI.mil" initiative to scale AI tools across the force. In parallel, Autonomy.mil will provide similar standardization for autonomy platform development across the DoW. The CDAO will champion this transformation as a "Wartime CDAO," cutting through bureaucracy to rapidly deliver these capabilities.
