What project 3092 buys
The STANDARD Missile 6 Electronics Unit (EU) funding is for the design, systems engineering, analysis, integration, and test of replaced obsolete components. This effort is jointly funded with the Missile Defense Agency for a shared approach to obsolescence and improved capability in defense of the sea base. Initial funding provided for the requirements generation, risk reduction/mitigation, and establishment of development facilities necessary for the commencement of the obsolescence project. The Missile Defense Agency was the contracting office for the risk reduction/mitigation and establishment of development facilities which completed in FY 2020. The USN development effort began in FY 2021, continues into FY 2027 and remains a jointly funded effort with the Missile Defense Agency. This effort will deliver a SM-6 BLK IA Engineering Change Proposal in Q4 FY 2027 to continue production of SM-6 BLK IA Missiles with the Upgraded Electronics Unit, known as SM-6 BLK IAU. SM-6 Systems Integration and Fleet Engagement (SIFE) leverages existing missile technology and advanced missile technology. It aligns missile technology roadmaps across the services (NAVSEA, NAVAIR, USAF, USMC and USA) and missile variants within the services, taking advantage of the Navy's investment in the AEGIS Weapons System (AWS) and Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC). This program will provide an extended range engagement capability to provide the air superiority and the umbrella of protection for joint U.S. forces and allies against the full spectrum of manned-fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and land attack and anti-ship cruise missiles in flight.

Project 3092 funding, FY2025–FY2031
Prior years are actuals, the budget year is the request, and the outyears are the FYDP plan. Estimate types are colored and never summed into one figure. Projects carry the full five-year plan; the activities inside them stop at the budget year.
| Fiscal Year | Estimate Type | Amount ($M) |
|---|---|---|
| FY2025 | Actual | 57.1 |
| FY2026 | Enacted | 202.9 |
| FY2027 | Request | 169.1 |
| FY2028 | Outyear | 2.8 |

3 accomplishments / planned programs
The R-2A exhibit — the only level of the budget that describes work that has not happened yet. Activities carry the prior, current and budget year only, no five-year plan. 1 of them describes FY2027 work in enough detail to have its own page; the rest are shown here in full. Coverage is partial across the corpus, so count activities, never total them.
Complete formal qualification tests of both hardware and software. Conduct live fire at sea test (Q2FY2027). Deliver Engineering Change Proposal (ECP).
Read the FY2027 plan →FY2027 planned work Prepare support for the Naval Integrated Fire Control (NIFC) Crossfire event at WSMR in FY 2027. Support FQT for SM 6 BLK IA Build 4.x.
FY2026 to FY2027 change no significant change FY 2026 to FY 2027
FY2026 plans — current year Conduct and support the ACB 16 Developmental Test/Operational Test (DT/OT) FTR 37/38 in 2Q FY 2026, conduct and support analysis and integration of enhanced SM-6 Blk IA Software capabilities due to real world events into CS baselines. Support missile test data collection and analysis in support of SM6 capabilities via tests of opportunity conducted by other organizations.
FY2026 to FY2027 change Transition to Production (TTP) decrease in FY 2027 with the effort funded with WP,N
FY2026 plans — current year Transition to Production (TTP) will rectify all white wire fixes into manufacturable designs, produce final Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Tech Data Packages (TDPs), create routers and work instructions (WIs), and manufacturer end items to the new Bill of Materials (BOMs), WIs, and TDP artifacts for all hardware (HW). The end items are integrated into the forward flow production Test Equipment (TE) and automation at all levels, from piece part to All Up Round (AUR). TTP will take beta TE scripts and software developed during Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (E&MD) and makes them repeatable for technician level labor. HW tests will be completed. Lessons learned and fixes are…
Named performers on project 3092
Performers named in the R-3 exhibit under this project. Share is of the project's whole FY2027 R-3 total — the same denominator the program-element split uses, so the two read on one scale and will not sum to 100% when unnamed or government work is in the mix. Budget-justification contract funding, not obligations.
