Mission & acquisition strategy

This program is initiated in FY 2026. Research and develop solutions to Damage Control and Firefighting issues to include developing environmentally friendly and effective alternatives to existing firefighting systems. This program funds critical efforts in shipboard fire detection/suppression systems, fire prevention features, damage control, personnel protection, and advanced firefighting equipment.

This is a non-acquisition program for engineering and analysis for onboard fire detection and suppression systems, fire prevention, and damage control. Work is performed by Navy Warfare Centers and Government labs with contractor support.
