Mission & acquisition strategy

Marine Aviation Developmental Management and Support enables the development of Marine Aviation's future capability concepts through analytically rigorous study, modeling, simulation, and validation. This PE includes funding for the integration of Marine Aviation into the USMC's Navy Capabilities-Based Assessments Integration Process - Marine Corps (NCIP-MC) processes, integration of USMC Artificial Intelligence (AI) analysis and prototyping efforts, as well as support to ongoing joint warfighting effectiveness efforts lead by OSW Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (CAPE) and Research & Engineering (R&E).

FY2027 planned work Continued enhancements to current V-22, F-35, and C-130 AI prototype software applications. Engineering support will execute initial deployment of prototypes to Fleet users in order to inform future enhancements and generate backlog of critical issues that require correction. Prototyping and operational assessments will identify additional Fleet assets for incorporation into future prototyping and operational assessment events.

FY2026 to FY2027 change Funds increase from FY 2026 to FY 2027 for AI prototype software application development and operational assessment efforts for identified Marine Aviation T/M/S platforms.

Marine Aviation Accelerated Decision Making System enables a Marine Aviation wide, large-scale implementation of autonomy, artificial intelligence and agentic workflows to enable Marine Aviation to excel in both future asymmetric and peer/near-pear operations. These operations will require the use of decentralized decision-making across distributed aviation forces through Marine Corps concepts of operations such as Distributed Aviation Operations (DAO) and Decision-Centric Aviation Operations (DCAO) with the goal of enabling faster decision making and preservation of tactical operators for strategic tasking.
