The Defense Innovation Board (DIB) has merged into the Defense Science Board (DSB) to create a singular advisory body, the Science, Technology, and Innovation Board (STIB). The STIB is a discretionary advisory committee chartered to provide independent advice and recommendations on matters supporting the Department of War’s (DoW’s) scientific, technological, and innovative enterprises. The STIB operates under the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) (chapter 10 of Title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.), Government in the Sunshine Act, and other applicable federal statutes, regulations, and policies. STIB RDT&E Funding covers travel and contract costs associated with the completion of five to six studies annually at the direction of Department leadership pursuant to the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) of 1972 (chapter 10 of Title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.), Government in the Sunshine Act, the STIB charter, DoD Instruction 5105.04, "Department of War Federal Advisory Committee Management Program”, and other applicable federal statutes, regulations, and policy.
